Email Marketing

Keap does have an email marketing tool — called Infusionsoft.

That used to be the company name until they changed it. Infusionsoft is their email and marketing automation tool.

They seemed to have separated some of the functionality of their CRM and their email tools into Keap and Infusionsoft. Keap is more for small businesses who have a few clients.

Infusionsoft seems to be for bulk emailing, heavy segmentation and automation.

We’ll get into automation in the next section. But in terms of email, Infusionsoft has a decent tool.

You can create emails with images as well as text-based. Gist only offers text-based emails at this time.

One negative is the cost. In order to get up to 2500 contacts, it will cost you $199/mo. That gets you marketing automation, but not sales automation (neither of which are email).

That said the email tool itself is a bit more capable than Gist’s right now.

Winner: Infusionsoft

The email tools are similar, but Infusionsoft has a bit more in terms of options. Keap takes the win in this category of our comparison.

Marketing Automation

Infusionsoft has always been known as one of the forefront automation tools on the market.

The truth is, Infusionsoft is a powerful and vast system for automation. You can really nurture, sell and keep track of so much with this tool.

Perhaps the biggest drawback is the setup.

Infusionsoft is notoriously difficult to actually implement, depending on the complexity of your setup. In fact, Keap offers one time setup and training that range in cost from $499 – $1999.

Now they have workflows making it even makes things a bit more understandable, but it’s still a complex tool.

Marketing automation from Gist starts at $24.99/mo for up to 1000 contacts.

Gist also offers easily understandable workflows and other automation tools. These, as well as the ability to create custom events and base automations off of them.

That said, Infusionsoft is more robust with the ability to intricately guide new subscribers, prospects and current customers.

Winner: Keap (Infusionsoft)

Infusionsoft is an automation tool that is still very powerful. While they are more expensive (when all is considered), it’s the better tool in this category.

Chat

Live chat is a critical tool for marketing, sales and support. Cold emails and marketing emails often drive traffic to a business site. The ability to continue that conversation with a messaging chat can seriously reduce the sales cycle.

This is why live chat and email are both features in our all-in-one solution.

Gist’s Live Chat can also help business owners:

  • Collect contact data, like emails
  • Get more leads on the phone (with our meeting tool)
  • Turn client problems around with little to no time

Keap (Infusionsoft) doesn’t offer live chat as one of their services.

Winner: Gist

Without a comparable tool from Keap (Infusionsoft), the win for this category of our comparison goes to Gist.

Meetings

Gist and Keap have meeting scheduler tools. Gist’s is called “Meetings” and Keap’s is “Appointments”.

Both schedulers are very similar.

  • You connect your Google calendar
  • Label the meeting types and set the lengths
  • Set your availability
  • Get a link that you can send to prospects and book calls

Keap’s does natively integrate with their CRM, which is handy. That said, you do have to pay for it starting at $99/mo.

With Gist, you actually have Meetings starting at the free plan.

Winner: Gist

The ability to have with a CRM is cool, but Keap’s least expensive plan is more than our most expensive price. Gist wins this category.

Help Desk

Most marketing and sales tools fail to provide a solution to care for new customers. But this third leg of the business process is vital for retention and creating fans out of normal clients.

Gist’s Help Desk allows our users to:

  • Communicate with customers
  • Organize team members
  • Handle customer tickets quickly

Keap doesn’t offer support capabilities.

Winner: Gist

Without a comparable tool from Keap (Infusionsoft), the win for this category of our comparison goes to Gist.

Knowledge Base

Part of the support process is making informations about how to use your products and services readily available.

Having a knowledge base helps businesses;

  • Relay complex features or processes using text, video and images
  • Create a library of common issues your customers have to help them find a solution quickly
  • Enable support reps to quickly direct customers to the right article and fix their problem

Gist’s Knowledge Base tools allows anyone to create a beautiful, searchable database of content.

Keap does not offer a knowledge base solution.

Winner: Gist

Without a comparable tool from Keap (Infusionsoft), the win for this category of our comparison goes to Gist.

Chat Bots

We send sales emails in hopes of getting an immediate response. But prospects don’t always respond on our schedule.

And what if they come by your site when you and the team aren’t there?

Nights and weekends, when you and your team isn’t at work, chat bots:

  • Collect data to grow your list
  • Asking qualifying questions to see if visitors could be potential customers
  • Explain commonly asked questions in an interactive style
  • Even book sales calls

Creating bots with Gist is easy (no coding required).

Keap (Infusionsoft) does not offer a chat bot tool.

Winner: Gist

Without a comparable tool from Keap (Infusionsoft), the win for this category of our comparison goes to Gist.

Event Tracking

Event tracking is powerful.

Reps and the marketing team can see when and where visitors are looking on your site. This can help push traffic where you’d like it to go.

Sales reps can see key things like the pages visited (e.g. pricing) and use that intel to tailor emails or even when to reach out to prospects.

While events are used in Keap (mainly Infusionsoft), they aren’t readily available to users.

Gist gives you the ability to use pre-set events and even create custom events based on triggers you set.

Winner: Gist

Without a comparable tool from Keap (Infusionsoft), the win for this category of our comparison goes to Gist.

CRM

Keap (Infusionsoft) was built around a complex automation platform that collects, scores and helps businesses sell.

One of those tools is a very high-end CRM tool.

While Gist is working on our own CRM, it’s not quite ready yet.

Winner: Keep (Infusionsoft)

Without a comparable tool from Gist, the win for this category of our comparison goes to Keap (Infusionsoft).

Forms

Gist offers a lightweight form creator with 6 different display options.

You can change the colors, set the fields you’ll require and determine the display conditions (the when and where of how your form will show up).

Keap’s Infusionsoft product offers both a form creation tool as well as a landing page creator.

Their tools allow you to create opt-ins with images, and honestly, more options.

Gist’s advantage is, again, our all-in-one platform at a fraction of the cost of Infusionsoft’s least expensive plan.

Winner: Keap (Infusionsoft)

Gotta give the win to Keap here. The ability to create landing pages is pretty significant.

Pricing

Keap has two products — Keap and Infusionsoft.

Different products leads to different pricing pages. For Infusionsoft, there are 3 plans based on features and subscriber count.

Infusionsoft plans are:

  • $199/mo for up to 2500 contacts and includes marketing automation, but not sales automation.
  • $299/mo for up to 5000 contacts and sales automation, but not everything they offer.
  • $399/mo for up to 10000 contacts and all the platform has to offer.

In addition to this pricing there are optional set up and training packages available. Infusionsoft can be difficult to setup and these packages are $499, $999 and $1999 (the $1999 says “starting at”).

Keap starts out at $99/mo (for up to 1500 contacts) and goes up based on the number of contacts.

Keap is essentially a simplified version of Infusionsoft for small businesses who don’t need something as powerful as Infusionsoft.

Additional seats for Keap are $29 per user per month.

Gist’s pricing is a bit less complicated. We have 4 plan options.

Our free plan rivals many paid plans from competitors. Really. Here’s what you get:

  • Live Chat
  • Email Marketing (up to 500 contacts)
  • Forms

In addition to all the free features, the Growth Plan includes:

  • 1000 Contacts

The All-in-One (Based on number of contacts and number of users)

With our “All-in-One Plan”, you get everything. And the pricing is $9 per user plus the Growth Plan price, based on the number of contacts you have.

So, if you have fewer than 1000 contacts and 2 users, the price would be $24.99 + $18 = 42.99.

It’s really some of the most affordable pricing on the market. The power of 8 tools for the price of 1 (with more coming soon).

Winner: Gist

Keap (Infusionsoft) is powerful, but not so much that it beats Gist on value. Our platform performs many of the same functions at a much lower cost.

Summary

Infusionsoft is super powerful and Keap seems to be the company’s attempt to make that functionality more accessible to more businesses.

Gist aims to be the best platform for marketing, sales and support for any size business.

We win on value, overall features and ease-of-use.

Winner: Gist

Gist offers a all-in-one platform that is powerful enough for large businesses and one that can be implemented by anyone. Gist wins this comparison.
